At some point in the 70s to late 80s, Fredbear's Family Diner is created, presumably in the town of Hurricane, Utah.
In Hurricane, Utah, a chain of resturaunts is opened by Henry Emily and William Afton, two buisness partners. At least the latter of the partners was involved in the creation of Fredbear's Family Diner, likely owning the place and having opened it up himself.
Evan and Michael Afton are brothers, sons of one William Afton. Having been born the sons of the man who made the place, the two were given basically free reign around Fredbear's Family Diner. Unfortunately, this led to the older Mike (who was netorious for bullying the younger Evan) to accidentally put an end to Evan's life. On Evan's birthday, Mike and his buddies put Evan up to Fredbear's mouth while it was performing, which resulted in Evan's skull being crushed. He died later at the hospital.
Henry's daughter, Charlie Emily, has a special bracelet while she's at the resturaunt, one able to be detected by their Secuirty Puppet. This bracelet is meant to make sure she is safe while Henry is out and about doing things in the resturaunt. Unfortunately, the puppet gets covered and is unable to do it's job when it is needed the most. William Afton, still hurt and mourning the loss of his son, kills Charlie in a drunken rage before dumping her body behind the location. Upon escaping, the puppet leaves the building to track Charlie down and ends up breaking down on top of her corpse. Charlie's soul posesses the puppet.
Willaim Afton finally sets out on a more serious murder, one he's determined to perform at his own resturaunt. While in character, he lures five children into a backroom and slaughters them. When he's out of the picture, The Puppet places the children's bodies into the animatronic mascots of the resturaunt (including the old Fredbear suit), and things go on as normal. That is until the animatronics start to ooze mucus and blood, and the stench of death on them becomes unbearable. The resturaunt is on it's last legs as William is tried for the murders, but ultimately escapes sentencing due to lack of evidence.
After the initial Freddy's location finally closes it's doors for good after years of trying to recover their image, Willaim shows up with yet another venture into the realm of child's eatertainment with Circus Baby's Pizza World! Unfortunately, William's new venture was not pure of heart, but rather a front to gather more souls to study how posession works. As such, the new set of animatronics come equipped with techniques to lure children in, kill them, and store their corpses for future study. On opening day William's daughter, Elizabeth, unfortunately ignores her father's pleas to not go near the animatronics and approaches the titular Circus Baby, only for her to die and go on to posess her. The location doesn't persist past this first incident.
A new location is opened up by Henry without William's aid due to the previous incident. To try to aid in their image, they scrap the old animatronics and salvage several of their parts for newer models, fit with special facial recognition software meant to prevent another accident. However, William begins tampering with them and proceeds to commit another murder at the establishment, leaving another 5 kids dead. The entire place is forced to shut down by the end of it's first week, but not before even more tragedy could strike the town of Hurricane, Utah. On his last day, having been moved from the night shift to a day position, Jeremy Fitzgerald experiences a traumatic brain injury when the Toy Chica animatronic violently attacks him, biting off his frontal lobe. This incident goes on in infamy and is known as The Bite of 87'. Additionally, that night, before the toys get scrapped and the withered models get thrown back into storage, Micheal Afton, now Mike, gets hired as the last night's security guard. His motivations aren't quite clear, but considering he uses a completely fake identity during his time in the position (going by Fritz Smith), it's likely it was something for his father William.
Six years after the second Freddy's location shut it's doors, a third opens theirs. Mike takes the job of the security guard once again, this time going under his mother's maiden name rather than a completely false alias. During this time, he relives his past trauma as a child, having been subjected to William's whims, in the form of nightmares. Sometime after hours, William breaks into the building and destroys the animatronics present, the same batch he had stuffed children into all of those years ago, finally refurbished. Once all of their souls have been freed, they corner him in a backroom. He chooses to put on his costume one last time, in an attempt at self defense, but it couldn't have gone worse. The dodgy building's leaking roof cause the springlocks in his suit to snap shut, killing him in one of the most agonizing ways possible. His soul posesses the suit he died in as the souls he just accidentally freed move on.
Thirty years after being locked in a room by the ghosts of his past, William Afton is found an excavated in the form of Springtrap. Mike hunts him down after learning of his horrific doings and sets the place ablaze, seemingly putting an end to his father's horrible reign.
